The main priority of a music video is to promote the artist and by doing do, the characteristics of a music video are lots of close-ups (so the audience are familiar with who the artist is) lots of moving camera work (which makes it more easier to identify that it is not an opening sequence or any other form of media, - it is a music video) and we see a lot of quick edits, with unusual transitions and jump cuts.
Music video differ from conventional broadcast narrative because in a music video, there are a lot of slow motion , unusual transitions, the chorus within the song provides the structure of the video, the duration is much shorter than conventional broadcast narrative (3-5mins) and finally there are lots of close-ups which helps establish the artist.
