Once we completed our music videos we had to create our own Digipak's. When we were first asked 'Who knows what a Digipak is?' I was in utter confusion. However once it was shown to us I was able to become much more familiar with it.
In order to create our Digipak's we had to use Photoshop which is a software I have used before but not yet mastered. We were shown a number of tools we could use including the Magic Wand, text tool, how to add layers as well as shapes, symbols effects and importing barcodes.
The front cover of my Digipak is of Demi and Julian, I chose this photo for my Digipak because, it was a very natural shot. They had no clue the photo was being taken and it shows off their natural smiles and happiness which is what I wanted the album to represent. I decided to use a black and white effect, with a sharp contrast just to play around with Photoshop and get to grips with particular tools, I just happened to like the way it turned out. As for the inside of the Digipak, I decided to use a photo of the location that was used to film the video. I did not like it in colour because outside was slightly gloomy and it looked dull so I also used the black and white effect, as well as a sharp contrast.
The back of the Digipak I decided to keep very plain and simple, I did not add much colour to it because the rest of the Digipak was in black and white so I wanted to abide by a set of 'house colours'. At the bottom is the bar code, writing for copyright and the record label logo to acknowledge them.
STRENGTHS
- Use of technology
- Use of house colours
- Good thought put into it
- Clear font
- Bar codes, record label recognition and copyright included, which is found all most Digipaks
WEAKNESSES
- I should have been there whilst shooting the video so I understood the concept
- Could have taken a lot more pictures
- Created a Digipak that did not suited the genre
- Location, dogs and pests, it was in a public place so people were passing by looking into the camera,
- no one really knew the full song lyrics so there was a lot of laughter and errors in lipsing.
