Andrew Goodwin feels that pop videos do not impose a traditional approach like seen in a film or novel. The reasons for this is because pop songs are built around song and very rarely have any structure, which is normality problem resolution. In Pop videos the artist is 9/10 always the lead performer, they also look directly into the camera which is an extensions performance which tries to connect with the viewers. Pop music video are very similar as they all use the same guidelines which a key element of this is repetition. Pop uses a lot of the same images and normally have a chorus which they use to try and make there song familiar to there target audience which I personally feel is effective as I have learnt to know songs like this from previous experience. Pop is a genre which is very known by the public as it is on the TV,Radio and used in Adverts. As there are three types of relation between music videos, which are - illustration, amplification and disjuncture.
Illustration : When lyrics in the song are being performed in the actual Music Video. A perfect exampled performed below -
Disjuncture : Is when the video has no relevance to the lyrics in the song, which is unusual - example below -
Amplification: Amplification is when the video give the lyrics more meaning and the viewers get a deeper insite into the Artist mind-frame. Example below -
