Vernalis released a book called 'Experience Music Video: Aesthetics and Cultural Context. In this book she covered camerawork and editing within a music videos. Vernalis came to a conclusion that edits were used much more regularly in music videos then in any other form of screen for example films and commercials. As these more frequent edits seemed to stand out to the target audience they are done as disjuncture, but at the same time seemed to catch the rhythm of the beat whilst cutting back and fourth from shots.
- Slow motion editing is used to emphasize a piece of mis en scene used or on the artist.
- Frequent use of Jump Cuts/Edits/Transition draw attention.
- Special editing effects used together with disjuncture.
- Camera is never static.
- Continuity editing.
- Structure - Base Track is regularly used.
