As we decided that our storyline was about running away, the main focus was to try and merge the artist and the performer in the same scene and make sure the audience will understand what we are doing.
As I said previously, unlike the original music video, we are going to have more scenes of both artists performing together / artist with the character performing together.
A music video that does this very well is by Ludacris ft Mary J Blige-Runaway Love
In order from left to right: The first picture shows the two singers (artists) performing together, the character is the main focus but you see the artist in the background, the artist and character are both in focus of a scene, and the last one is the artist in the main focus with the character also in focus |

Ludacris (the main artist) in the background still playing an important roll within the scene |
We had also wanted to have a scene where our main character is drawing and then the camera zooms into the reality and the videos that I had thought about were :
1) Kanye West- Heard Em' Say
In this music video, the storyline is shown through an illustration coming to life.
Everything is in Black and White and the detailing just looks SO COOL. We were thinking that maybe if we could have the artist (Denzel) drawing, and the camera zooms up and the drawing like fades into a scene. If that could be done, then our video would look really artistic and good. The editing is pretty obvious as it like a flip book but when the verse changes into the chorus, the editing changes slightly but it still work with the song.
2) Bruno Mars- Just the way you are
I liked how the use of a tape really illustrated the whole song. The editing was able to show obvious jump cuts from the character, to the illustration back to the artist and etc . With the tape, there was a structure to the music video that didn't make it look cheesy or boring increased the creative side of the artist. If you also look at the 3rd picture, you see that the drawing looks identical to the artist/character and current use of mis-en-scene used through reality and paper looks phenomenal.
